1922 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.
Chassis number 2LE
Engine number N121
Registration number XK1215
A derby built chassis with the very first body produced by Custom Coach works for the American market. The body was initially fitted to 1914 experimental car 27PB & thereafter removed & fitted to 2LE. This is documented & photographed in the authoritative book "Rolls Royce in America" by John De Campi.
The body is a landaulette in very original & untouched condition. It is unusual in that it has only two doors for ingress & egress; one to the passenger side & one to the driver's side. The car has been under the current ownership for two decades & has during that time formed part of a collection. It is currently being recommissioned for the road with new tyres & a fresh MOT.
The interior is very original with green buttoned leather to front & rear. The leather also extends to the door coverings. The engine has had recent new pistons & a re-bore. The bottom end was at the same time checked & found to be well within tolerance. Thus the engine is quiet running & sweet, but is still quite tight & will benefit from a careful running in period.
The landaulette hood is original leather that has been regularly treated with hide food to keep it supple. Exterior paint is green over black & in good overall patinated condition. To the rear is a period motoring trunk. Opera lamps are fitted to either side. The bonnet is of polished aluminium. The engine bay is clean & tidy with a splendid brass horn to augment the klaxon. Underneath the car is sound & solid as witnessed by the photographs.
She will not be complete for a month or two, but viewings may be arranged by appointment near to Liverpool.
