1925 Rolls Royce Phantom 1 Sedanca by The Derham Body Co, Philadelphia.
Chassis Number 104TC was produced in Derby & bodied in Philadelphia as a sedanca town car. About 20 years ago the car was subjected to a ground up concourse restoration of body & mechanics, & has been little used since.
Thus the car is close to perfect. The paint scheme of white over black is in flawless condition with no cracking or blemishes whatsoever & is a testament to the quality of the work done. Mechanically the car is almost silent & exactly as one of these cars should be. The car starts readily "off the switch" & drives like new. Indeed to drive the car is to imagine how it might have been to have collected the car from the original coach builders.
The car is finished in black leather to the front & grey velour to the rear. A wealth of original & charming period fittings are located all over the car. The rear compartment has twin vanity trays & a pair of porthole style side windows with original blinds & rope hand pulls. Occasional seats fold from the rear bulkhead. Just outside the rear doors are a pair of opera lamps, giving a very period look to the car.
The rear of the car is fitted with a leather covered luggage trunk again in impeccable condition. Twin side mounted spared adorn the running boards with spotlights mounted to the spare wheel holders.
This car is in simply stunning condition. The only place you might fault it is that the white wall tyres are 20 years old & show a few signs of cracking.
The car is to be sold with a full service by Marque specialists Hofmann's of Henley. She may be viewed by appointment in Chichester. Ask for Richard Biddulph
Massive history file comes with the car which was subject to a two and a half year ground up nut and bolt restoration during the mid-seventies. Amazing month by month fully itemised and detailed report of ongoing works completed and in hand. Superb driver, solid immaculate engine and gearbox with absolutley no fault- a drive anywhere car. Beautiful combination of Chrome and Nickelwork and faultless paint make this fabulous car very desireable indeed. First ordered new from Rolls Royce for Mrs J.Kearsley-Mitchell of Hotel de Crillon, Paris, the chassis was sent on the S.S. N.W.Miller of the Furness Withy Line, later to become Manchester Liners, for shipment to Derham Body Company, Rosemount, Philadelphia, USA. During Mrs. Kearsley-Mitchells ownership she had the car sent back from Paris to Rolls Royce for a larger fuel tank to be fitted to-gether with an upgraded auto-vac. Many years later the car was sold to a Mr.Walter Spickard of Tuckerton, New Jersey who was President of Spickard Enterprises Inc. a firm of Tugmen and Lightermen. In 1974 he had the car restored as described above to it's present condition. Returned to this Country on the 19th November 1993. This car has a wind up Chauffeurs division, inter car Telephone, two occasional seats one rear facing and one side facing with armrest. Silk window blinds with vintage beading and silver bud vases. Externally two spare wheel mounts with fantastic crafted bracketry, nickel silver coated Paris Opera Lamps and rear luggage trunk.
