1926 Bentley 3.0 Litre Red Label

Chassis number: RT1541
Engine Number: BL1609
Registration number YO3595

A fascinating Genuine Speed model with racing provenance from Brooklands. The first owner of the car is documented as none less then the illustrious Captain Woolfe Barnato.

Although not used at Le Mans, 'YO 3595' was built to team specification, entered by W. O. Bentley, and raced at Brooklands on 7th May 1926 in the Essex Motor Club's Six Hours Race, an event regarded as a Le Mans dress rehearsal. Driven by Leslie Callingham and S G A Harvey, the car was sidelined when the engine's new duralumin rocker arms broke, a failure that eliminated two of the other works entries.

Many decades ago the current Vanden Plas style body was fitted in tribute to the original & over the course of time has developed a lovely patina, whilst remaining in smart & tidy condition. The exterior is black, with Red wheels & a softly coloured burgundy leather interior. The car is equipped with all the important bits including twin sloper carburetors & an 18 gallon long range fuel tank. A Ferguson starter electric starter is also fitted as are twin 4 1/2 litre magnetos.

Under the previous ownership for almost 35 years, this is a rare opportunity to acquire such a car, bearing in mind that just 513 Speed models were built; and with Brooklands race history to boot!

We will be showing the car on our stand number 269 in Hall 3 at the March Tecnoclassica show in Essen. Before then it may be viewed by prior appointment in Somerset.
