1929 Rolls Royce 20hp Doctors Coupe
Chassis number GFN81
Registration number EL1088
A beautiful Doctors coupe with dickey seat in first class order.
This 20hp was rebuilt extensively a few years ago & little used since by the now passed on owner. Thus the engine bay is highly detailed & close to show quality. Huge amounts of work were done mechanically during the restoration.
The body has a twilight blue/grey with black wings all in lovely condition. To the inside is deep blue leather to the front & rear again in excellent order. Grey carpets trimmed in blue complete the ensemble.
The coachwork has a very period look heavily pulled in towards the rear as was done on many ghost chassis by the likes of Barker etc. With such light coachwork the car pulls strongly giving it a lively sporting nature.
The car has an excellent roof that folds up or down very easily after releasing two thumb screws. A hood bag covers the hood & a full tonneau cover snaps snugly over the drivers compartment utilizing the same fasteners as the hood bag. With the roof up the car has a delightfully period look. The spare wheel is fitted to the rear for better weight distribution as enjoined upon the coach builders by Sir Henry Royce himself.
The engine starts instantly & runs very quietly. A new stainless steel exhaust has been fitted along with new manifold & down pipe. New brushes have been fitted to the dynamo & the commutator machined to a factory new finish. The auto-vac is working perfectly & has a filter fitted between it & the carburetor.
I have to stress what a beautiful car this is to drive. The "sit up & beg" look draws accolades from other road users whom are serenaded in return by the melifluous Klaxon Horn. The car is well set up for touring & is spacious with easy ingress & egress.
The car is freshly serviced by noted marque specialist Graham Ashley Carter, so is absolutely ready for the summer season. It is at our Medmenham Premises ready for viewing.
