1930 Rolls Royce 20/25 Thrupp & Maberly Sports Coupe.

Chassis number GLR8
Registration Number GK1143

First time on the market in 22 years. This car has been owned for over two decades by the last enthusiast owner. During this time, money & effort has been lavished upon the car to keep it in tip top condition.

The coachwork is a rare rakish sports coupe by noted builders Thrupp & Maberly & is original to the car. Finished in light cream the paintwork is in overall very presentable condition with just a little touching in here & there. The wide doors allow easy ingress & egress from both sides of the car even on the driver's side. The spare wheel is rear mounted on the boot lid & a fog lamp is fitted to the front.

The interior is black leather in good patinated order. The passenger side seat is cunningly split to allow it to fold forwards for easy entry to the capacious back seats making the car a true 4 seater. Bristle floor mats are fitted to the front & beige carpets to the rear.

When new the car had a large sunroof. This is currently covered over on the outside but the mechanism & opening is extant on the inside allowing for easy re-instatement if so desired. It had a tendency to leak so was covered over in everflex by the last owner.

The car had a full and complete engine rebuild by the current owner less then 20K miles ago. Thus the engine is smooth, powerful, silent & as a Rolls Royce engine should be. It starts instantly, idles slowly & starts almost every time off the retard lever giving evidence thereby of good compressions & being correctly set up. The car has for many years been maintained by marque specialists Sargeants of Goudhurst. The steering has also been attended to so is tight & play free.

The car four years ago had a high ratio back axle gear set manufactured to the original Gleason patterns & fitted by then specialists Hofmann's of Henley. Consequently the car is very long legged with an indicated 50MPH being actually 65MPH. Thus the car is a joy to drive on faster roads, easily keeping up with modern traffic speeds.

The car comes to us with meticulously maintained records spanning many years & several large folders. There are a plethora of bills for work done to the car; detailed pictures of works undertaken & a full history of ownership since new.

To sum up this is a properly maintained enthusiast owned car in superb mechanical order & ready to go anywhere. I am using it as a daily driver until it sells & can attest to what a delight it is to drive.
