A nut & bolt restored car to better than new condition. The history file comes with a plethora of restoration bills totaling no less then a staggering £172,000. The restoration was a body off affair carried out by Brunts of Silverdale & later Classic Restorations of Perthshire. Needless to say the bills are far too long-winded to go into in detail here, other then to say absolutely everything has been done. The restoration was finally completed late in 2010. & culminated with a rosette at the Rolls Royce National Rally at Rockingham.
This is a very rare car with just nine examples thought to have been made. The Countryman was designed by Harold Radford as the last word in elegance combined with practicality for those who pursue an out door life style or are involved in country sports.
The design incorporates a hatch back design from well before its time with the rear hinging up & the bottom portion folding out as an impromptu picnic table. The bottom portion also contains a shaving bowl/wash basin & mirror for those needing to sharpen their sartorial appearance prior to dining. Another hatch flips up to reveal a champagne bottle holder. After the repast, the front seats move forwards & the seat backs recline flush with the rear seat squabs to form a bed where one may sleep off the prior culinary excesses. The rear seat backs moreover, are designed to fold down to form a huge luggage platform akin to that of an estate car. Nightcaps can be dispensed from the decanter holders that slide forwards from the rear arm rests.
The interior of the car is fresh grey leather piped in dark blue, extending also to the door cards, the carpets being dark blue. Picnic tables are fitted to the seat backs presumably for use on days when alfresco dining is out of the question. All woodwork is of course refinished to a glassy sheen with the walnut being particularly highly figured and decorative. A large sunroof easily opens making for pleasant summer motoring.
The exterior of the car is finished in dark navy blue over metallic silver, the paint being flawless The swage line is also picked out in navy blue, seemingly disappearing as it meets the rear wing & them re-emerging on the rear spats. The under bonnet area is equally mint with everything being done to a show finish.
The car is in stock & may be viewed by prior appointment at our premises.
