1954 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn
Chassis Number SPG3
Registration number 260AMX
A rare manual gear box Dawn in impeccable condition that comes to us from long term ownership. Extensive work has been done to the car over the years to keep it in tip top condition. More recently the car was taken back to bare metal, every bit of corrosion removed & the car resprayed in tempest silver over masons black.
Attention has also been given to the engine. The owner, a meticulous man, has a large history file on the car including photographs of the body work in progress, a detailed file from previous owners & a complete resume of what has been done whilst in his tenure. This includes:
1986
New stainless exhaust system.
New silencer suspension brackets.
2 new brass manifold studs.
New radiator hoses.
Sun roof refurbished.
Heater motor & matrix reconditioned.
New distributor & HT caps.
New screen wash pump.
1988
New fuel line.
Carburettor stripped.
New water hoses.
1989
Re-conditioned radiator with new matrix & fan belt.
1996
New wheel cylinder kits fitted.
1998
New coolant hoses.
New spark plugs
New starter solenoid.
The car has covered a warranted total of 135,000 miles. This is backed up by continuous service records from Hoopers & then assorted dealers & specialists covering the car's entire life.
The interior is simply stunning with original deep St James red leather in exemplary condition having been regularly treated with hide food & conditioner. Occasional tables are fitted to the seat backs. Carpets are also red. All woodwork is original & in excellent order. The sun roof is also fully operational. Pleasingly the car comes with its original hand book & original tool kit.
This is one of those rare cars under long term ownership of an aged RREC member who has looked after the car correctly & lavished money upon it. The car drives absolutely as a Silver Dawn should. It is rattle free & the engine completely silent. Steering has no play in it at all & the whole car has a feeling of tight togetherness. The pictures, although good, really do not do the car justice.
It is located on the Gower peninsula & is well worth the drive down to view it.
