1957 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith by Freestone & Webb.
Chassis Number: FLW94
Registration number: BLK11B
Large & imposing, this Wraith has covered just 62,000 miles from new. Originally supplied to Sheikh Ghanim Al Thani of Trucil commodities Corp, the car shipped new to the Persian Gulf & was fitted with air conditioning which it has to this day. It is featured on the front page of Grahanm Robson's Collector's Guide (The Rolls-Royce and Bentley Volume 2: Coachbuilt models 1945-1985 Book).
The car spent many many years in the ownership of an aristocratic Spanish family who kept the car garaged at their finca outside Madrid. It was sparsely used during this time for family wedding s& odd formal occasions doing less then 1000 miles per year, yet being serviced properly each year & looked after. We collected the car from the sons of the family & drove it back to the UK without a hitch. I drove it across the Spanish plains in the heat of the late summer & it ran cool for the whole journey.
The exterior is masons black paintwork in generally good condition with burgundy to the sides which suits it very very well. All chrome is likewise very very good as a result of always living in dry arid climes. This is a very very large car in the style of the empress line with a front wing line that swoops all the way to the very rear of the car, running through the demountable spats.
The interior is fawn leather to the front & rear. The front leather has been recently replaced & presents as brand new. The rear is original & in very useable condition. We are having a new carpet set made as the originals have some localized staining & discoloration. The rear has twin occasional seats that fold out of the passenger foot wells & double as footrests when not being used. To the centre is a large drinks cabinet which folds out on a pivot through 180 degrees. The wood is of burr walnut, all original & in generally good order. Twin picnic tables are also fitted.
The best part of this car is the way it drives. It starts instantly even after standing for prolonged periods. The engine is silent & powerful easily moving the car at a pace that might be considered slightly unseemly for such a sedate looking limousine. The ride is soft & supple & the steering very very direct. The automatic 'box changes seamlessly with no lag or roughness at all.
The car is in stock with us now & may be viewed by prior appointment. It is a truly imposing car & a pleasure to drive down the road in.
